A quiet observer of everyday sorrows and small joys, Tahmid writes fiction that lingers between memory and longing. His work explores family, belonging, and the unspoken bonds that hold lives together.
Tahmid Rahman writes novels and short stories about families, the houses they keep, and the things they never quite say to one another. His books move between Bengali and English, and between the cities people leave and the towns they carry with them.
He writes slowly and by hand first, usually in the early morning, and revises on paper before anything reaches a screen. Most of his stories begin with a single image: a lamp left on in an empty room, a letter folded too many times, a river in the rain.
Alongside his fiction he talks about reading and writing on television, at literary festivals and on podcasts, and keeps a journal on this site about the books that shaped him.
